John French Sloan (August 2, 1871 – September 7, 1951) was an American painter and etcher. He was viewed as one of the organizers of the Ashcan school of American craftsmanship. He was additionally an individual from the gathering known as The Eight. Sloan was known as the Ashcan School's chief craftsman and a pragmatist painter who accepted Socialism's standards; however, when all is said and done, he disassociated his specialty from his governmental issue.
